SAINT LOUIS SCOTT GALLAGHER
ST. LOUIS, MO - The 2005, 2004, and 2002/03 SLSG Navy ECNL teams traveled to Sanford, FL. this past weekend to participate in the ECNL South Carolina National Event.
Friday began with the U16 age group playing against a very strong GSA program, with the contest ending in a 3-0 loss. The following game was played by the U18/19 age group, taking on United Futbol Academy. Two goals by Rylee Howard and one PK from Kinley Brown saw the U18/19s win 3-0. Sara Sanabria and Gabby Becker combined for the shutout. The day finished up with the U17 with a 2-2 tie against Charlotte Independence. Goals were scored by Hailey Chambliss and Erin Connolly.
Saturday morning the U16s kicked the day off. The side lost 2-1 against another strong side in Concorde Fire Platinum. Next up the U18/19 age group played against Dallas FC, in what was a dominating performance. Jess Larson got on the scoresheet for the team. The U17 side wrapped up Saturday’s action playing against one of the best sides in the country, Solar SC. What ended up a 3-1 loss saw a second goal on the weekend from Erin Connolly, off of a free-kick from goalkeeper Sarah Bozeman.
The final day of the event began with the U16 age-group getting back to their winning ways, in a 2-1 game against Florida Elite SA. Goals were scored by Kayleigh McPherson and Alyssa Bockius. Next up, the U17’s played against United Futbol Academy, in a very hard 4-1 loss. Hannah Smith was able to get in behind and score for the Navy side. The U18/19 team was able to round out the weekend with a 4-1 win of their own against Concorde Fire Platinum before the teams headed home. Goals were scored by Riley Combs, Jess Larson, and Rylee Howard (2).
SLSG ECNL Director, Ralph Richards, was very proud of the way the program fared throughout the weekend. “While some games didn’t go our way as far as the scoreline showed, the girls always brought a fighting spirit and working mentality. As a program, to get to come down here to such a great event and compete against some of the top clubs in the country at each respective age group, it is truly a great opportunity.”
The SLSG Navy Program again wants to say thank you to the parents, families, and friends of the program who traveled all the way to Sanford, FL. for this event. The program now sets its sights on the ECNL Texas Showcase in Mid-February.
