ST. LOUIS, MO - The 2006, 2005, and 2004 SLSG Navy ECNL teams traveled to Greer, SC this past weekend to participate in the ECNL South Carolina National Event.
Friday, the U16 age group began the day playing against Tennessee Soccer Club. Goals by Brooke Cattoor, Hayley Braun, and Ana DiMaria led the U15’s to a 3-0 win. Parker Scheele and Lexi Stephens combined for the shutout in goal. The next game of the day was between the U17 age group and Richmond United. Erin Connolly got on the scoresheet for SLSG Navy’s lone goal in the 1-2 loss. The U15 team wrapped up the action by taking on CESA, with a convincing 4-0 win. Tasneem Dizdarvic, Mia Devroaux, and Ki Kukan (2) were the goalscorers.
On Saturday, the U16 age group took the field against a strong United Futbol Academy side. The contest was tight, but ultimately Kayleigh McPherson was able to get onto a loose ball for a 1-0 win. Lexi Stephens and Parker Scheele combined for their second shutout of the weekend. The U17 team then played against GSA in a great 3-2 game settled at the last minute. First-half goals were scored by Lani Jakul and Hailey Chambliss. After GSA equalized the game in the second half, Zoe Houston scored in the final moments to win the game 3-2. The U15 age group later played a night fixture against Concorde Fire Platinum. Goals were scored by Ki Kukan (2) and Grace Restovic in a great 3-0 battle.
The final day of games began with the U16 age group playing against a strong Real Colorado National team. Ultimately the game ended 1-3, with SLSG Navy’s goal coming from Langley Mayers. The U17 age group then played against an Atlanta Fire United side. Alivia Buxton provided the goal in the 1-0 game. Sarah Bozeman collected the shutout. The U15 age group finished out the event for SLSG Navy with a 0-0 draw against Ohio Premier. Caroline Birkel and Taylor Gardner combined for their second shutout of the weekend.
SLSG ECNL Director, Ralph Richards, had this to say about the event. “As always, the ECNL proves to be the best platform in the country. The level of competition is always a challenge, and the events are always done with class. The opportunity to compete in the ECNL is something we are thankful for. SLSG Girls Director of Coaching, Scott McDoniel, was excited for the performances throughout the weekend as well. “I am very, very proud of our girls and of this club after this weekend. To travel, and to perform as well as they did against some really good competition, it makes me quite proud.”
The SLSG Navy Program would like to thank the parents, families, and friends of the program who traveled all the way to South Carolina for this event. The program is looking forward to January when they participate in the ECNL Florida event.
