St. Louis, MO - The St. Louis Scott Gallagher (SLSG) ECNL RL Missouri Program wrapped up its first month of League play this past weekend. The six age groups (U13-U19) boast an overall record of 15-5-3 (W-L-T) totaling 48 points. But records aside, Maggie Richard the Programs Director is impressed with the competitive edge the girls are bringing to each training and game.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the way the entire RL MO program came out focused, intense, and really competed each and every game this month.”
Official matches began August 29th, with the annual derby games in Collinsville. The fields are in immaculate condition, the weather was perfect, and the performances from each program were entertaining. MO came out for the better overall on the day, bringing home 3 wins and a tie.
Playing at home, especially at the Soccer Park in Fenton, is always a privilege. On September 11th and 12th, the program played host to Sporting Michigan and Midwest United FC respectively. RL-MO exploded for fifty goals on the weekend and could smile about a record of 9-2 overall! RL Coach and Girls Director Steve Pecher was incredibly happy with the results. “The girls were excited to play at home, you could tell. They controlled the games with some solid possession and executed their chances. It’s always good to be at home, it’s even better when you can win.”
To close out the month RL visited the lovely town of Naperville, just outside the city of Chicago to play Eclipse Select. The program put some more good soccer on display checking off five results out of six matches including three wins, impressing ECNL RL-MO coach Lauren Nuelle. “Eclipse has been one of the best clubs in the country over the past decade, not many programs go to their home field and get positive results. But our girls are working hard, they trust each other, and they are believing they can compete with anyone in this league. I was super excited to see them get positive results!”
ECNL RL-MO begins a busy October when it travels to Rockford IL to compete in the ECNL’s newest event, the ECNL Regional League Showcase. Later in the month the program competes for Missouri State Cup, and then finished October with League games at home, Oct 30/31.
