St. Louis, MO - St. Louis Scott Gallagher Girls ECNL program is celebrating the success of one of its own last month. This past fall Tasneem Dizdarevic, of the SLSG 06 ECNL Green program was called into the Bosnian Youth National Team for the first round of Qualifications for the 2022 UEFA Women’s U-17 Championship.
Dizdarevic, who spent time living in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina, joined St. Louis Scott Gallagher in 2015, and has previously been called into the Bosnia and Herzegovina National Team Camp in January of 2020. The 2022 UEFA Women’s U-17 Championship is being held, for the first time, in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“It’s exciting being called up again” Dizdarevic shared with the club. The Qualification matches, played against Germany, Finland and Portugal, were played at the Estádio Algarve, in Almancil, Portugal. “One of the best memories was playing on the same field as Cristiano Ronaldo…my idol.” Reflecting on the style of play itself from her opponents, Dizdarevic said “they are very aggressive and athletic and they’re not afraid to face any challenge. they’re fearless, athletic, and ready.”
St. Louis Scott Gallagher ECNL Green Director, and U-17 Head Coach Shawn Hewitt had this to say, “I’m excited to have Tasneem back with the team following her time with the Bosnia-Herzegovina National Team. It’s a well deserved opportunity. It’s such a great experience for her, one I’m sure she will bring that to her game in the ECNL.”
The next round of Qualifications will see Bosnia and Herzegovina in Group B6, playing against Moldova and Belgium in March.
