SAINT LOUIS SCOTT GALLAGHER
The SLSG RL U17, U18 and U19 have finished on a high note in the Midwest Conference Club vs Club competition. Here’s a quick recap of the day!
« RL U17 started the beautiful sunny and 70-degree day with a come from behind effort, finishing with 2-2 tie. The clutch goals were scored by Jane Leavitt and Mikayla Morales.
« RL U18 dominated the entire game moving the ball with purpose all over the field but just couldn’t capitalize on their chances. Then in the last 7-minute, the match changed, and Sophie Colson flicked a ball down the line into Jaycee Cotton’s path. Cotton beat her defender and was able to play a perfect ball into the box for Hannah Juengermann, who put the ball in the back on the net to give the 18’s the only goal they would need on the day to take the three points.
« The U19 SLSG match would determine who would win the CLUB vs CLUB Bracket A Division. Head Coach Maggie Richard was incredibly confident in the lead up to the match. “We needed to get some kind of result, the girls knew it, and they had the right attitude all week and it continued in the match right from the first whistle.” In the 15th minute forward Cassidy Head received a pin-point pass and was able to slot the ball into the back of the next under all kinds of pressure. The one goal lead stuck until the second half when Mackienze Boyle was able to head home a cross from the wide channel to secure the 2-0 win.
Richard went on to say, “I couldn’t be prouder of this group of girls. This team is a very special, they have great team chemistry on and off the field and it truly shows in the most important games.”
The SLSG RL U19 team will be hosting a play in game on November 21 against SC Wave 02/03 team for a chance at a USYS regional wildcard bid. Good luck ladies! #SLSGNation
