Former St. Louis Scott Gallagher players Brad Davis and Vedad Ibisevic will represent their respective countries at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Davis and Ibisevic are the second and third SLSG players to go on to appear on World Cup rosters. Mike Sorber was the first, having represented the U.S. at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in his native country.
Davis, a left winger/midfielder, was selected to the final 23-man roster for the U.S. Men’s National Team. He has made 16 career appearances for the USMNT, but never at a World Cup.
A graduate of Chaminade HS, Davis played at SLSG as a youth player until 2000 before playing college soccer at Saint Louis. He currently plays professionally with Houston Dynamo in the MLS.
Ibisevic, a forward, will represent Bosnia & Herzegovina in Brazil. He has earned 55 CAPs with the Bosnian national team, scoring 20 career goals at the international level.
Ibisevic played for SLSG during his high school years, in which he also attended Roosevelt HS. He currently plays for VfB Stuttgart in the German Bundesliga, netting 39 goals over the last two seasons.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup begins Thursday, June 12 and ends Sunday, July 13.
