2004 Roma and 2002 Manchester City Progress in President's Cup!

St. Louis - October 22, 2020 - Two of SLSG's Senior Competitive teams have qualified for the final round of this years Missouri Youth Soccer Associations President's Cup.  2004 Roma, coached by Dan Bumiller and Alex Suess will be kicking off at 1:30pm on Saturday vs Kirkwood United in a Semi-Final match. And 2002 Manchester City, coached by Scott Stephan and Stos Behle will continue their quest for the Cup at 6:30pm Saturday evening versus LFA.

We are really excited to have progressed to this round of the tournament." said Bumiller.  "The girls were really on their game during bracket play, they were fun to watch, and they scored some tramendous goals."  Roma outscored their opponents 18 goals to 2 in the opening matches posting some convincing wins.

SLSG Director of Coaching Scott McDoniel has enjoyed watching Roma develop over the past several years.  "Dan has done a great job with the 04 Roma squads (Navy & Green).  He has created a team culture that the players are committed to, they work hard, and they play in a manner that we at the club are all very proud of, I believe they will do very well this weekend."

Man City's run to the Semi-Finals was a little more complicated.  After dropping their first match, Coach Stephan and the girls kept their focus and composure to win back to back games on the weekend to qualify.  "Manchester City is a special group of kids." Carlton Williams, Senior Competitive Director, commented.  "These girls have been loyal to Scott and Ricky [Andrews] for six years, and you can see that commitment to each other when they compete. I know Scott is excited, he's doing a great job with the team,  and I'm sure Ricky, from his new home in Houston, is smiling about this teams performance."

"Regardless of the results this weekend, we are really proud of these teams.", added McDoniel.  "But with the committment they've shown at training and with the way they have been performing as of late, none of us at the club will be surprised if this is a really successful weekend for the groups."
