Collinsville, IL. – St. Louis Scott Gallagher (SLSG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Larry Julius as the new Youth Development Director of the Illinois division. He will lead the SLSG Illinois boys and girls from ages U6-U10.
Larry, who holds his USSF B Youth Coaching License, started his coaching career in 1997 when he founded Avalanche FC out of Harrisburg, PA. Larry grew up in Bayless, MO where he attended St. Mary’s High School and Florissant Valley Community College. As a player, Larry played professionally for 14 years for the Kansas City Comets, Hershey Impact, Milwaukee Wave, Philadelphia Kixx and Harrisburg Heat. He has spent the last 11 years coaching for Pennsylvania Classics AC, where he coached their USSF Development Academy teams and focused his skill set on preparing players for the 9v9 and 11v11 game by with U8-U12 age groups. Larry has helped develop some notable players during his coaching tenure: Andrew Wenger, Elizabeth Wenger, and most notably, US Men’s National Team and Chelsea player, Christian Pulisic.
“With over 34 years of experience in coaching, directing, overseeing club operations, and implementing curriculum for boys and girls ages 8-19, we feel very fortunate to bring Larry into our full-time coaching family,” said Shawn Hewitt, SLSG Illinois Program Director.

Growing up in Saint Louis, I played for Busch Soccer Club, so to be back home with coaches I played with during my youth and professional days is a true blessing. I can’t wait to work with families, players and staff at SLSG,” said Larry Julius.
