ST. LOUIS, Mo. (December 27, 2017) - SLSG Illinois Girls’ ECNL began a new tradition this holiday season. As a club, we are committed to having a positive impact in our community, and the Illinois ECNL girls did not disappoint this past weekend. Following the Christmas Community Outreach Event on December 11th, SLSG Illinois Staff had the privilege of delivering eight boxes full of Christmas gifts to the Alton School District for kids who otherwise may not get any.
Between the four teams, the high school ECNL program adopted 12 children from the Alton School District. Each player was assigned a child to purchase gifts for this Holiday Season. The four teams came together for a holiday party on December 9th where they spent time with one another, enjoyed food, Christmas music, dancing, and wrapping gifts.
“It is important to us that this experience has more to it than just a soccer component," said Laura Ridolfi, ECNL Director. "The soccer part is also important, but it can’t be all we are about. Developing the kids as people is just as important as developing them as soccer players because soccer will only be a part of their lives for so long. This event was a great opportunity for us to help kids less fortunate have a great Christmas this year. It was fun to be part of and watch and we are very thankful to all of our players and families for jumping on board and helping make the event possible.”
