ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The SLSG MO Boys Elite 2001-2004 teams return home from a successful opening week of the National League in Panama City Beach, Florida. The National League competition will continue in March in either Tampa Bay or Las Vegas depending on the age group.
In addition to berths to the annual US Youth Soccer National Championships and recruiting opportunities, National League teams in the U14-U18 age groups are also competing for a chance to re-qualify for the National League’s 2020-21 season.
The SLSG Elite 2001 Boys went 1-2-1 over their opening games in a tough group that started with a 2-1 loss to LGN United (NY) and 3-0 loss to Solar 01 Stricker (TX). They would bounce back with a 5-4 win against Lobos Rush 01 Premier (TN) before finishing with a 2-2 draw against OBGC Rangers Blue 01 (MD). The team is led by Christian Kraus who scored five goals over the four games, including a hat trick against Lobos Rush 01 Premier.
The SLSG Elite 2002 Boys went 2-1-1 in their four games after bouncing back from an early 2-1 loss against Solar 02 Castro (TX). They went on to defeat CTC Bandits Palau Soccer Academy (FL) and PSA National 02 (NJ) before drawing with Cup 02 Gold (OH) to finish the week with 7 points. The team is led by John Gates who scored three goals over the first four games.
The SLSG Elite 2003 Boys won all four games without conceding a goal and scored 10 to sit atop of their group with 12 points with three more games to play during the spring season. The team started the weekend with a 3-0 victory over Bethesda Blue (MD) before winning 2-0 over FC Copa Academy B03 NL Black (NJ). They managed a 1-0 win over AFC 03 Gold (GA) before completing their sweep with a 4-0 victory over Lexington FC 2003 Boys White (KY). Forward Will Kelly led the team with four goals scored in each of the opening games, followed by John Cordia with three goals.
The SLSG Elite 2004 Boys also went undefeated with a 3-0-1 record. They started with two 4-0 wins over Soccer Stars United Galaxy (NY) and RISE 04 NL (TX) before drawing 3-3 against Germantown Legends 04 Black (TN). They would finish the week with a 2-1 win over LMSC Invictus (PA) to sit top of their group with 10 points and only four goals allowed.
