CARSON, Calif. – SLSG MO Girls player Kirsten Davis has been called in to the Under-20 United States Women’s National Team training camp from August 23-30. The camp is currently being held at the StubHub Center in Los Angeles.
Davis, formally of Lou Fusz Soccer Club, is a member of the SLSG MO ECNL U-17 team coached by Ralph Richards.
“I am extremely happy that Kirsten has been invited back into camp,” Richards said. “Kirsten is an exciting left-side player who loves to run at defenses. I’m sure another week with the National Team and coaching staff will only elevate her play.”
The U-20 USWNT roster is made up entirely of pre-college youth club players, with 12 born in 1997, 13 born in 1998, four players born in 1999 and two in 2000. The training camp will be used to continue to deepen the U-20 player pool and look at players in various age groups.
“We have a tremendous opportunity to bring together some of the younger talent that has been identified over the past few months,” U-20 Head Coach Michelle French said in a statement on the U.S. Soccer website. “With the depth of our U-20 pool, coupled with the emergence of players from our U-17, U-18, and U-19 National Team programs, I’m confident the camp will feature a highly competitive environment with the naming of the World Cup qualifying roster being just a few months away.”
The CONCACAF qualifying tournament is scheduled for the end of 2015 in Honduras. The 2016 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup will be held in Papau New Guinea next summer.
